Jack Zheng (b. 1997) is a Chinese-Canadian artist currently based in Hong Kong. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in his personal heritage and cultural upbringing. Central to his artistic journey is the creation of a character called Odd Individual (Odd Indv), which serves as a representation of the artist himself.

Through a lens of playful and illustrative story telling, Zheng weaves intricate self narratives to explore the character’s struggle between optimism and pessimism, allowing for a reflection to his own internal struggles of introspection. Combining abstract, contemporary and pop art themes, his artistic approach is to create a visual language that depicts self-acceptance of vulnerability, confrontation with the conformity of his cultural upbringing, and the embrace of vocalization surrounding emotional well being.
